At a recent awards ceremony at the Cadet Training Centre in Boddam Cadet James McPetrie [13] of the Aboyne Detachment was among a number of cadets to be recognised for their achievements.
Cadet McPetrie, a member of 2 Highlanders Army Cadet Force pipe band, is the first cadet in the Battalion to achieve 3 star level in music.
James was also honoured to be chosen by the 2nd Battalion Officers Mess members to play at a dinner marking the retiral of their Commandant Colonel David Taylor.
James played a tune heard by an audience for the first time, entitled “Colonel David Taylor TD” composed by George Neish, Pipe Major of The Battalion pipe band in honour of the retiring Commandant.
